I Have a question to those who have installed the A.T.I. Damper on a R53 MINI, Does it have a keyway to get it in the correct position so that the timing marks are right? Or barring that how do you get it installed correctly so the timing marks are right?

There is no keyway, the timing marks on the damper are somewhat useless... I don't remember seeing any marks on the OEM damper either. They could probably be made to work but not very practical.

Yep I dont remember paying any attention to those timing marks at all when installing mine. Been several months and car still runs like a top.

Ok, Thanks. I didn't know if there was a timing mark on the block for use in timing. So I'll just install and forget about it.

The only way to get the timing marks lined up would be to take apart the front end of the motor and find out exactly where the motor is and put it back together without moving it, then make your own mark on the front timing cover and install the ATI Damper.

I haven't had anyone do that yet, but it is possible.

I would also replace the belt since you have it apart. If you have not done it already.

Wouldn't hurt to replace the crank bolt as well.

I already have the new shorter belt for the 15% Supercharger pulley and will order the A.T.I. Damper pulley with the new bolt when I make the order for the Damper pulley.

The ATI should come with a new crank bolt, mine did. Someone told me they dont work but had no trouble with mine.

+1 on getting a new OEM bolt. The ATI bolt is for pressing the new damper in. Final torque should be w/ the new OEM bolt.
