So this is in Racer Magazine. More at - Adam Carolla making Paul Newman racing documentary - Racer.com
I remember seeing him at a national at Summit Point in I think 1972. He had an x-Group44 TR6 painted black/silver. After that year he changed to a Bob Sharp 510 also painted black/silver (I think, this is the best my old memory can do!).
I saw him at Summit point too. it was the 80's in a Bob Sharp Z of some type. Newman and Tom Cruise had just completed some movie. Both were there in Bob Sharp prepared cars. Remember the Cruise was a back marker. It was some time ago, the memory is fuzzy.
Was very, very fortunate to actually meet Mr. Newman and have a quick 5 min chat with him back in the early 80's when he was racing the Sharp cars in Trans Am. He was at Portland Int'l Raceway and I would always go to the track on the Friday before the races because there was so much more access to the cars and drivers then. I saw him come out of his trailer in his driver suit and walk towards the cars and I just walked up to him and started chatting....about what I have no idea at this point. He was very nice and after a bit said his apologies and said he needed to get on track. WOW.......wish I had had a bit more sense to have actually gotten a picture of he and I, but all I got was a picture of him before we chatted.
Just a little info I found on his racing career... Paul Newman (USA) - All Results - Racing Sports Cars
I saw his 510 in Calif some years after he had race it. But did watch him race it at Road Atlanta durning the Run Off's in '76.
