Anybody else looking at one of these?

$400, GPS timer with predictive lap display. Tracks velocity and acceleration on all axes, pre-loaded with lots of tracks. Does what a $1000 Traqmate does only better.

There's also a Solo DL that pulls in data from your car, including RPMs, brake and throttle position, etc. I'm looking at that one, but I'm not sure if it'll pull in the CAN bus information through the OBD 2 plug or if I'd have to tap into the speedo wires.

If you have a smartphone, you can do the same thing for less than $100.

For example I use TrackMaster with the bluetooth GPS.

I have an iPhone (TrackMaster is for Android), and I'm of the opinion that the GPS sample rate is too slow on smartphones. It's 10Hz on the Solo, and I think iPhones are 2Hz. Not sure what rate Android phones sample at.

Not a bad idea, I'm just looking for a dedicated unit.

Ben what your saying is true but that is why trackmaster also has the Bluetooth GPS. If you have a Garmin or such, the sample rates are higher and they are more accurate. When you have those linked the trackmaster uses the GPS in the Garmin instead of the one in the phone. ;)

By the way in the latest update, if you had had one at the Glen, we would have had the capability for me to watch you live on the overview, with split times and all, going around the circuit!!!

You can also store AND share your sessions with other trackmaster owners!

Clearly I'm not yet a Trackmaster. =) I'll have to look into it.

I've been looking at the gtechpro. It's only $300 and has a 10Hz gps. The software looks decent.
Then again, the trackmaster does look a lot nicer, but if you don't already have a smartphone and a bluetooth gps... well maybe it's an excuse to get those:)

The external GPS for Trackmaster can sample at 1,2,3,4,5, and 10 Hz. I use 5 Hz.

    Sample data here.
