is there any way to tell what year my trans is? im curios to know if my 1st and 2nd gear ratios have changed. 02-04 have different ratios from 05-06 and the add for my trans that i put in just said 02-06 6speed. and i never remembered to record what 1st and 2nd top out at when i had my old trans in. but this new one feels different. but it could just be me. and being used to driving a high powered sports car for that last month. so if anyone knows the answer that would be cool, or if you have a 02-04 S and tell me what your 1st and 2nd top out at, same with you 05-06 guys :biggrin5:
Its easier to tell in the higher gear. Get it on the highway, put it in 6th, get to 70 mph, the older, 02-04, the RPM's should be around 6800, just alittle under 7000. If at 7000, or alittle above, you have the 05, and above tranny. I have a 03 MCS and swapped to a 05 trans, so have seen this in action.
cool ill pay attention next time i get on the highway. but dont you mean 2800 and 3000? 6800 and 7000 in 6th would be very fast probably hitting the speed limiter
