Out of curiosity, did you have any luck with the dealer replacing the sliding armrest under warranty?

Mine is wearing out and I just wondered what I should expect when I take it to the dealer.

My R56 is the same way... I hate that thing. I hit the gas with even a little enthusiasm, and it slides open, that and it is so shallow, it really doesn't hold anything anyhow. Really poor design. :frown2:

In my opinion the European designed MINI armrest is the best for the 2nd Generation and the Outmotoring designed armrest is best for the 1st Generation.

Yup. Lid lifts up rather than slide back. We keep the Garmin in ours when not using it.

I'll take pics when I get home next week, but I did find this. It looks pretty much like the sliding one, except the lid lifts.

It was a problem when I got the car and they did replace it, but it was bad again within a couple of weeks.

I definitely would like to have an armrest that offers some storage, but I was hopeful to not spend over $300 either.

Our dealer gives our club members 20% off retail, or 20% over dealer cost, whichever is less. We got ours for $120.

The euro works fine in 1st gen cars as well. Got mine from either OM or Pete at Mymini back when.
