I have a coat drying as I type. I was wondering if there is something that works as well, but does not required taping off all the plastic & such? That is a real PITA. Jim
Banana gloss has never stained the plastic when I've used it, put it right over black graphics as well.
I doesn't stain the plastic or rubber, but leaves a white film that takes weeks to get off. At least that has been my experience. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Jim
What I do is after I clean & dry my MINI I coat the trim with Wizards Black, I'm sure Black Wow would work as well. Don't wipe it off yet. Now wax your wagon & when done wipe down the trim pieces with a clean towel. No white marks!
Thanks Crash. I will give that a try. I used Mother's Back to Black this time, so I just won't wipe it off until after the wax is on. Jim
I've not used that brand before, but I recon it would work there Jasper. You might test a small inconspicuous area first to see how it goes. You still don't want to slather the wax on the trim if you can help it. Man I hated masking. I only did that once. :mad2:
This was the first time I did it and I hope the last. Almost took longer then applying the wax. My door handle covers were getting very faded, almost gray, and a couple coats of Back to Black made them look new. I saw Mother's products mentioned in another thread, so when I saw this in the store, I decided to try it. Jim
You should try the 303 Protectant stuff. Very long lasting and no dust magnet. The Griots stuff is water based and is not supposed to leave any residue on the black plastic. I haven't tried it (Love my Zaino stuff) but some of the others in the PDX club have used it.
I'm really confused. Banana Gloss dries in less than a minute. Barely enough time to apply it and wipe it off before it dries. I never tape when I wax, only when I polish. When I get near any rubber or plastic pieces, I don't apply a full amount on to the applicator...keep the product in middle of the panel...say I'm applying it to the area around the sunroof...apply the full application in the largest area of paint towards the center and work your way out to the edges so you have less chance of product spilling into adjacent areas. Products like Hydro or Hydro Seal also don't leave residues so if you want to try something else that's quick but not creamy, both of those products will give you that. Richard
Jim, WTF are you doing?????? Banana Gloss has NEVER left white on my trim??? :confused5: If this is the case (for whatever weird reason- you are a freak :biggrin5, Black Wow the trim BEFORE you wax..... wax won't stick to that stuff
Jim.... Look to see if maybe you got seagulls perched above your Justa.... Does it look kinda like this????
I simple fix is to take the waste oil from your engine & use it to gloss up the old girl. Better yet I think both of us should head over to Richard's detail clinic.
I use Black WOW and don't have this problem. I also have been detailing my cars for over 25 years now. I also help others that do get wax residue on trim with Pre Wow and send them to Richards site so they can also buy this great combo. Black and Pre WOW are the best you can use PERIOD. P.s. If you want good products you won't find them at Pep -Boys and Wallmart. Don't buy cheap crap for your car.
Banana Gloss seems to perform several functions...although I will probably go a more comprehensive program, could BG replace the combo of Amigo and Epic?
