It wouldn't matter around here, no one would read them or pay a lick of attention to them.... On a similar note, when did the rules for right turn on red change? Seems to me you were supposed to stop, then proceed if the way is clear.....around here they don't bother to even slow down, they just blithley make the turn as if they have the green light.
I'm kind of partial to these, the likes of which may be found throughout the Ozarks of NW AR...for real...
Yup, it's still a red light which means you have to stop before you turn, that's the rule. Apparently people only know (or only want to remember) the "right on red" part of "right on red, when clear, after stop." It's like a stop sign where you can only turn right. You can choose to roll through either I suppose but people should at least remember they don't have the right of way. That's the part that pisses me off most, they just drive through, barely slowing down enough to make the corner, just like you said. As to the lane etiquette issue, as bad as it's become over the years, seems like calls and texting (esp. texting) have made it even worse. I think the texter amendment -- which, of course, trumps all actual rules -- is "Since texting is obviously more important than the annoyance of driving, move to the far left lane to avoid being disturbed by on/off ramp traffic, slow down, and drive more or less between the lines." The corollary, which is so obvious it doesn't need to be mentioned in intelligent company, is "It's the responsibility of other drivers to avoid collisions with your car, they won't mind because your texting is far more important than whatever they're doing."
A long time ago, they opened a new bypass around the city I live in and at the same time they altered all the road numbering so it would fit in with the new road. While doing it ther were pairs of temporary road signs set up all over - the first one said "ROAD NUMBERS BEING CHANGED", which wasn't that special, but I so wish I had stolen and kept one of the second signs of the pair that said: "FOLLOW PLACES NOT NUMBERS" I mean, dude, that's heavy. :cornut: And we are now getting some weird new signs that are trying to tell drivers of big trucks not to trust what their satnav (=GPS) is telling them, due to so many problems with trucks getting stuck on roads too small for them. The first one is apparently the new international road sign for this purpose:
What kills me is at least in California they offer the written test in other languages. Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. But the all the signs are in English. Just makes no sense to me.
Seeing this roadsign made me think of this thread. I'm guessing it's photoshopped but then with the Italians, can you be 100% sure?.....
WTF ? ^^^^^:crazy: Who would approve that to be made and posted....:frown2: It's like having to solve word math problem at a toll booth.:lol::lol:
:cornut: And the springs with attached ear pieces because you've got to know what the Martian Voices are telling you. Jason
