Actually, BMW couldn't have kept the F56 the same size as the R56, because of the design changes necessary to meet the latest European pedestrian safety requirements. Most of the new length is in the front end - only 1.1 inches of the 4.5-inch increase were added to the wheelbase. Ugh.

I kinda like the new style flat nosed front ends on the new European designs. It really does eliminate the chance of a busted windscreen after mowing down a pedestrian or occasional inattentive cyclist.... Hands at 3 and 9, stereo at 11 clicks and hammer down..! :beer
