I wouldn't say that, he put the MINI in the forefront. He was one of the first " mad modders" Plus...he's still doing his thing

Total epic fail period , the tuner challenge was an embarrassment to the Mini community .....unless of course you are into your tuner running around in a pizza costume.

Which in that case it was "AWESOME DUDE!" ;)

OK, seriously... super light wheels on the GP...? I've got nothing personal against Tim. But he was all marketing>function.

19.8 lbs is not to bad for a 18 inch rim?

Not a Fireball Tim fan either. His ramblings in Modern MINI (the UK magazine) were just this side of embarrassing.

Jim it's not hate it is fact... Did you not watch the show? The other guys were working on making their cars perform better whilst Tim was farting around in Pizza costumes, only thing he talked about more, other than pinstriping was the RC car they built to go in the boot. In the end they showed up at the track and all the Mini could do was go around the track in limp mode...

That is utter failure in my book....and to hold him up as some sort of golden age for our community is..... :screwy:

:cornut: I'm not familiar with this guy. It looks like the kind of thing that wouldn't have interested me. I'm more concrete/nuts and bolts; he seems more nebulous/artistic flare.

IMHO FBall Tim was relevant up until that tuner challenge with the RC Car and the food costumes. Since then, not so much in the MINI realm.

He did a lot to push the brand forward. This style left me feeling cold but that's just the way I feel about it. SO in the end he does get credit for pushing the brand in the early years. He also gets credit for pushing the envelope to far, ripping it and falling in to obscurity in the MINI community.

Everyone has their right to an opinion and my opinion is that your still being overly generous.. What exactly did he push? The drag Mini was their best effort and exactly how many products were made available from it? In fact as I remember it, if one made a visit to the really Kool Fireball Tim site/store/whatever it was, one was hard pressed to find much at all, if anything for us to use or buy.. Whole thing was a joke that culminated in everyone scurrying for the door as soon as the tuner challenge aired.

At best he created some buzz...

......wonder if Jack Roush ever thought of building a RC car to go in the trunk of one of his Mustangs?

Fireball Tim was to MINI was what Ricardo Montalban was to the Chrysler Cordoba with "soft Corinthian leather”

Golly Mark, it's not ALL bad...

RMW would never have been in existence if not for FBall Tim and his antics...

Ok Mark, you have your opinion, great...but show me where I "hold him up as some sort of golden age"? Try reading Nathan's post above. I mearly post about a MINI event. The guy was "Hollywood" and it was obvious. If you don't see that well  I remember one of the first times I saw a MINI in a magazine....Fireball MINI's....and was amazed at what the looked like, peaked my interest  Plus he did have the vision of making the worlds quickest MINI to this day :cornut:
