'09 MCS r56 Sometimes when I close the boot, it will not close all the way as if it was just softly shut where it latches but not close completely. This sometimes happens even when closing w/ enough force where I think it should close normally. It's almost like the air pressure in the cabin is fighting back It's not that big of a deal because I just close it again, but it's a bit frustrating. Anyone else have this?
Checked the bump-stops on the hatch to see if you can recess them farther? If you're convinced it's air pressure, try cracking a window and repeat closing it. If it doesn't change anything, you're back to a latch alignment or bump-stop details. - Erik
I had this problem once in a while on my '09.... it was that shelf/privacy thing on the strings.... it would not be lined up sometimes. See if that is the issue.
I've also found the strings & balls getting in the wrong place occasionally causing the boot to not want to close. By all means keep the boot hinges lubed. If they start binding they will fatigue the metal & they will break.
I've heard that as they get older they tend to hang lower then when they were fresh out of the factory.
