The emergency brake is off, and I filled the master cylinder with the correct fluid. The pads are fine. At startup I get a red light showing a 'Mini on a auto lift', but the front/rear change pad warning doesn't light. Could it be a bad sensor? Or did I overlook a more serious problem?
Welcome to M/A the FUN Mini site. Please tell us a little about your car and we should be able to help. ( Year & Model )
Welcome to M/A How many miles on your MINI? How much brake fluid did you have to add? How do you know your pads are good, remove the wheels & look. It is possible a piece of ice could have taken out a sensor wire, but that is not likely.
I had something similar happen not long ago, turns out the rear sensor was a little flakey. The dealer simply reset the counter and all was good.
You should never have to add brake fluid, unless there is a leak. The fluid goes down as the brake pads wear. When you compress the brake clappers to install new pads the fluid will return to normal. If you add fluid your system will be over full when new pads are installed. Check for leaks, if there are no leaks check your pads. Low fluid is a sign of worn pads. Hope this helps.
