I have 05 Cooper S with 83K + miles. I was at AMVIV took it in for oil change at 74K and replaced rear pads. Front pads have never been replaced. I was asked if I ever used my brakes and of course I do, but being a retired trucker I had rather downshift. Dealer said I definitely had the most miles he has ever seen on MINI without replacing the pads.

Wait- 83k and the front pads have never been replaced? Do you ever use the brakes?

Even stranger, you replaced the rear pads before the front. They definetly should not have worn quicker. That's odd.

best wear I have heard of

Although I have seen the rears worn more than the fronts on several occasions.

My brakes were changed last year and the rear pads were worn more than the fronts. I Changed pads all around, but I didn't have to replace the rear rotors, but did change my front rotors.

    Brake Pads/Rotors

Down shifting instead of breaking. Have you had to change your clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing ? Jason :D:popcorn:

I had the front-pad warning light come on at around 78,000 miles, so you've got me beat.

My 03 justa cooper went 95k miles on the original OEM brakes. Now there is a reason for this. The first 85k miles were 95% highway, 100 miles a day return commute.

It is also noted by those that follow me on twisties, while they are trying to keep up in their MCS's that my brake lights hardly ever come on:smilewinkgrin:

At 105k+ miles my original clutch still feels strong:D

You took the question right out of my mouth! As Nathan said recently... brake pads are cheaper than a new clutch.
