This is a "must drive" if your in Orange, Riverside or San Diego counties. It's a two lane ribbon connecting San Juan Capistrano with Lake Elsinore by cutting through the mountains.

They just finished a lot of safety improvements, but there's still plenty of excitement and awesome scenery as you wind through the Cleveland National forest, hitting the summit overlooking Lake Elsinore and more. The west end will be ruled by temperatures influenced by the ocean, while the east side experiences more Inland Empire/desert conditions.

Caution - mind your speed through San Juan Capistrano (double fine zone/heavily monitored), but once you pass Antonio Parkway it's totally rural. We like to make a round trip drive and can easily do it in less than two hours (unless there's an accident). Perfect place for top down or sunroof open driving.

Very common for the Ferrari, Porche and other car clubs to meet just off I-5 as a rally point before heading out en masse....they frequently go on to Temecula for wine tasting (after the drive ~ not before! LOL)

Thanks for the post. I will need to take that route next time I am travelling in southern California.

Ya man that's one heck of a cool stretch of road. Navigating it in the fire engine was interesting..... I'd welcome a MINI trip for sure!
