I just wanted to start this because the wife has a cabrio and doesn't use the back seats. You would have to take out the bottom and the seat backs and fabricate something that could still use the locking mechanism of the seat backs.

If someone out there could make it, it would be sweet!!!

    It's called an S2000 ;)

Or the possibly forthcoming MINI Speedster.

Yeah, I've thought about this a bit... but I think the cabrio (especially 1st gen) is gonna look goofy with a big pit back there and no seat, no matter how nice the seat delete is.

Now, a tonneau cover... I think THAT would be the ticket...

I have given serious thought to tearing the top and all related items out, rear seats and roll bar out and putting a speedster style cover over the whole thing. The only thing stopping me at this point is I want to start working on my other car, and the longer I keep playing with the cabrio it will never start.

Would be a fun project though........

I had my back seats out during the AutoX season a couple of years back. If you think the tin tops are loud, wait till you sit in the vert with the back seats out. I doubt any seat delete will help it.

Tonneau... now that brings memories. I had those on my MG Midget many years back. Rusty snaps and all. LOL.

The speedster seat cover on the Bug? Looks good for show, but if you're anywhere where it rains regularly (I am not) it would not be very practical.

Plus you would need to deal with our rollover bars which by the way I like way better then the ones on the Gen II. I thing they are quirky.

P.S. Anyone posting a picture of that Alpine Mini monstrosity will be the first person banned from MA. <VBG>

    Alpine MINI??

In other news, my nephew got a Fox body 'stang vert for his 16th bday. First thing he and his father did was remove the back seat and put in a cargo shelf....some CDX marine grade plywood and covered with trunkliner - it looks SHARP (his father builds custom homes so he's got skills). It's also functional - it ensures he'll never have more than one passenger (state law in NC for drivers under 18).

If some one could make that for the mini, that would be the tits. I would do that to my vert in a heart beat. As long is it had a cut out for my harness.

Not a Carbio seat delete but, fixed the problem of the space behind the RSD in a coop creating a nice sturdy flat floor all the way to the back !
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

The RSD is the standard ABS plastic version covered in Auto carpet !

For the rear panel I used 3/4 inch ply wood and covered both sides with the Auto carpet ! The RSD cover its self has 2 inch thick sound foam fit underneath as well as foam mounted in the two gas tank buckets. The foam cuts down the exhaust sound quite a bit ! Besides being able to store things under the RSD, The rear panel cover also serves as a good hiding place for small stuff as well !

That looks like a seat. I'm sure someone can do something a little cleaner than that.

that's the #1 commercially available kit (same maker as for the MINI). And, how do you think you'd make it NOT look like a seat if you cover both horizontal and vertical?

sorry for the delay and the poor quality camera phone pics, but here's the '88 Mustang GT DIY rear seat delete I mentioned previously that my 16yo old nephew made (with his father's help). Fiberboard and trunkliner from Autozone and someone who measured twice and cut once (and used cardboard for a template!):
