British car site Autocar is reporting that Cadillac has set its sights on MINI with the Urban Luxury Concept recently debuted at the LA Auto Show. Talking with designer Niki Smart, the MINI appears to be an inspiration for the future car’s possible positioning.“The time is ripe for Cadillac to make this car,” he said. [...] More...
Ha..... I think it's ironic..... They all want a MINI in their stable. MINI is always put up as the target in the cross hairs.rrr:rrr:rrr:
Thing looks like one big blind spot, to me. Why do American cars have to be big and gaudy? The new Ford lineup has the massive chrome grills, this thing is nothing but grill and Caddy logo... Tacky. And they wonder why they are failing.
As a Yurpeen, my take is why does GM target Yurp with Cadillac? Even us cheese-eaters know that Cadillac is supposed to be luxury but they suffer from the problem (shared with most mass-market US cars) that even if they look OK, at some point you open the door and see, or worse still touch, the interior. If it's not unbearably tacky to look at, it's going to feel like it's made from recycled plastic cutlery. Jeep have demonstrated that there's a Yurpeen market for the rough, tough all-Merkan image where sophistication doesn't count for as much. There are at least as many Yurpeens who want to drive around in a little motorised panic room as there are Merkans, so I think they should make a baby-Suburban. The same platform would be ideal and indeed the same "I'm a really aggressive four-year-old - get outta my way" looks would work too. Strangely, Dodge even admitted this by mistake when they tried to sell the Dodge Caliber - I am not sure if their TV ad will play outside the UK: Dodge 'Wet My Pants' TV ad - 30 sec advert PS A couple of months ago the Dodge brand was axed in Britain....
I don't like the styling of this concept car, but lately Cadillac has brought out sedans with impressive performance and I'm interested to see what they come up with.
Looks like it could be constructed in ones basement shop using plywood & a sawz all....
I thought the windshield on my 99 Camaro was hard to clean. I'd hate to try and clean that! Unless your arms were 6 foot long, you'd never reach the bottom of the dang thing!
