anyone other than m7 make canards/dive planes? I 3d printed a set from a 350z but it's not quite close enough

The idea of breaking off 250 $ carbon fiber canards when I autocross is not appealing

car is running a front splitter, and rcomp tires, autocross/trackday/backroad use only

Yup only M7 sells them and they stole the design from a designer J. Stewart that worked for GM and was a partner with Group4 Motorsports.

Dave, you have the wrong name, but he WAS a part of Group 4 Motorsports. I was VERY fortunate that he sold me one of the only pairs he had and they came in VERY handy when I tracked my S at Mid Ohio. Unfortunately, Group 4 has faded into the distance and my friend no longer has his MINI and has gotten into farming somewhere in the sticks of TN.

If I bring my S to MOTD this year, you can see the stuff he added to it, but if I bring the R50, all you'll see is the wing extension he made.

Jim did NOTHING. Mark Voegel was the mechanic.

That’s it Joel, he is one smart cookie. I knew his name began with a J. I know Jim did nothing. I was on Vendor row showing them how to mount the splitters on my R53 aero bumper securely and not into plastic bits with little zip screws.

I was working with Mark, and Joel. Wayne just talked and talked and talked.

    Aero brick FTW..... ;)

At track speed there may be a benefit, but who knows if the drag created helps or hurts? :)

Wayne knew how to create G4, but that's where it stopped. He wasn't interested in doing any wrenching, but sure loved talking about his ingenuity. Mark ruined his back, crawling around and trying to get those splitters to sit right while Wayne played Nero and just fiddled the day away.

Yup, I remember and I showed mark how easy it was to remove the bumper and work at a table.

I even think you were hanging out playing “Alice’s Restaurant” as I was working at a table with Mark and Joel.

    Good times

it wont, 60mph is the golden speed for aero, something around there I do more track days and time trial than I do autocross

that said aero is much more popular in autocross now, just take a look at some of the prepared classes if you do not have aero you do not win, but those national courses allow speeds over 60 too

Mark was my roomie. I wanted to snare him away from Wayne but Wayne always had work for mark to do so I pretty much went on drives alone. The last time Mark was down to MOTD, G4 was done and Wayne wasn't coming to show off his Mustang anymore. Mark and I finally got to drive where and when we wanted. Now, Mark doesn't come to MOTD anymore, due to health reasons.

Side note on Aero. A proper rear spoiler starts coming into play around 40 mph.. Which is why alot of manufactures have their auto deploy spoiler activate around then... Not sure what MPH those front Canards come into play..

Joel has a had a Chili Red S and Jim has a Yellow S, well until the PS pump failed and involved a tree.

I miss hanging out with Jim and it was sad to hear about his health issues.

I believe Jim posts on NAM now and had [and may still have] a 2007yellow MC that he thought was an S, due to all the go fast crap he added to it. Still, however, it was, and will always be a Cooper. Mark had a Chili Red R53 until the tree incident and then he got an Astro Black R53 that he kept until he could no longer shift, so he traded it for an Audi roadster.

Joel had a blue R53 [same color as Nathan's].
