I have a 03 r53 in the shop that I can't get to communicate with any diag equipment. We have probed for power and ground. Unplugged various modules to see if one of them was bringing down the whole system. Swapped kombi1 units. Still no communication. Has anyone had any problems like this before. And what fixed the issue? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks. Dan

Has it been tuned? Some tuners have been known to lock the ECU. Just a thought....

So not even a generic scanner communicates at any level?

    What are you using?

I wish it was that simple. All the wires out of the dlc are intact and go where they are supposed to go

Is the scan tool able to get fully seated? I had a problem with a different make of car where the plastic itself wouldn't allow the tool to fully seat and wasn't able to plug in correctly

It seats. My personal scanner turns on as soon as you plug it in.

Is the battey at full charge?
Any number lower than 12.6, indicates a battery that is not holding a full charge.

We use a charger to keep them at 14.2 while doing diags
