    Hi,

I am hoping someone will have some ideas as I have been back and forth to the mechanic many times over the last month. I turned my 2011 mini cooper clubman s on oneday and it ran very rough but then it made this coughing noise and then it ran ok.. well fast forward a week or so and the engine light was on. I took it to the mechanic and it was diagnosed with carbon build up which I have learned now is fairly common. It has about 88,000 miles on it. The carbon has been cleaned but now it is poping the P15df code which is high pressure fuel system, cold start pressure to low. Anyone know that the fix is for that? it is still the orange light and is going back to the mechanic tomorrow. its other symptoms are a loss of power which is usually fixed with a restart and today and it runs fine till about 60 and then it seems to hesitate or surge when you go to hit the gas.... any thoughts are welcome

You need a new high pressure fuel pump.

There was a warranty extension (although I don't know if it covered your year) on it so you should be covered. Take it back to the MINI dealer, if they can replicate the code they should be able to warrant that part for you.

Let us know what happens, OK?

Do you know if the electronics were updated after the carbon was cleaned? I was speaking with my dealer on this last week and he mentioned that their process is to update the software or refresh the electronics or reset the values. Whatever you want to call it.

The point being that the car needs to be told that the carbon is all cleaned up so that the car will run correctly. It adapts over time, so as the carbon built up it adjusted the performance.

You might want to ask your dealer. Even if they didn't do the work.

Hi, I have ordered the new high pressure fuel pump and my mechanic is paying to have mini diagnose what we already believe to be be the high pressure fuel pump! he has been great about the whole thing.. He is in NC if anyone needs a mechanic... Yes he said that is what they do when they reset the lights and that has been done a few times its not even showing misfire codes anymore .. I wonder how mad mini will be that we are essentially using them
