So I was a littel tired of my stock MCS checker dash and trim so I thought I would try a cheaper alternative to the JCW dash parts.. I tried the Carbon fiber vinyl wrap from Rvinyl.com.. To sum up the product in as few words as possible "FAIL" The product is total crap, looks like crap, if you get any heat next to it is is discolored and burns (heat gun over 12" away) it will not take moderate bends like it is said to either. Link to the store and product; Carbon Fiber Vinyl - R Three Black Film I will be trying the 3m version when I get a chance. Just thought I would share. David
Well done, others may benefit from you taking that bullet. Consider posting in the Reviews area as well.
David... You might try these guy's. They sell the 3M Di-Noc. I haven't tried it myself....... yet. Carbon Fiber Film | Dedicated To Selling 3M Carbon Fiber DI-NOC Vinyl
The Di-Noc material is a great product.. Not cheap, but you will be very happy with it.. If doing any major convex bends/curves it might help to use some adhesive spray or liquid to keep the vinyl from "popping" back up..
Sorry, that is a separate system, different database that contains all that info, the only items shared are the user base and overall theme of the site. I've added the product to the reviews system, you would just need to go in now and add your review and rating. Carbon Fiber R3 Wrap - Product and Service Reviews Might even want to link it back to this thread in your comments.
So, pics, In the dark it looks kinda OK.. with light Close up, oh and yes, that is a line through the printing... crap, crap, crap..
Hmmmmm.... Not very attractive. So is this a vinyl film with a photographic image of CF? I think the Di-noc has a "coined" surface that mimic's the CF weave.
I'll bet the film is transfer printed from a drum. The distance from line to line on the image is the circumference of the drum. :nonod: The line is where they spliced the image.
Here is a Youtube Video of Di-Noc being applied to a Mini. Enjoy! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3tnsx2JjUk]YouTube - 3M Di-Noc Carbon Fiber Vinyl Racing Stripe Installation[/ame]
slightly off topic: Anyone catch last American Chopper where the paint guy painted CF look by hand? Very impressive.
