Mike D and Mike M from CCMC went to the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix (USGP) in Austin, Tx the weekend of Oct 23. Every year I tell myself that I need to photograph a big race at that track... and then forget what I told myself until it is too late to get my media credentials. :frown2: I've heard nothing but good things about that track, and it is close to home. I just need to get my chit together and do it. CD
Don't worry about media credentials. Just go and have fun. I did not have media credentials, all my photos are from General Admission areas or various Grandstands. I was really surprised at how good the General Admission areas are for watching races.
I mostly enjoyed the modern F1 because I went specifically to cheer for Team Haas. Also I have seen the historic F1 cars race at Laguna Seca so that was a little bit of a repeat for me. I go the Monterey Motorsports Reunion each year at Laguna Seca. However, the historic F1 cars are great to watch plus at COTA you could get close to them in the pits to see mechanical details and talk to owners/drivers.
