I am planning a trip to Laguna Seca (Monterey, CA) to watch the Grand Am races the weekend of 08-09 September 2012. The weekend is called the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival.

Let me know if you plan to attend and we can caravan to the event and park together.

It is a great race weekend because so many type of cars race during the weekend.

The schedule is attached and includes:

    Rolex Sports Cars:
    DP: Ford/Riley, BMW/Riley, Corvette
GT: BMW M3, Corvette, Porsche GT3, Mazda RX-8, Audi R8, Camaro, Ferrari 458

    Continental Tire Challenge:
GS: Camaro, Mustang, BMW M3, Porsche Carrera, Aston Martin Vantage, Subaru WRX, Nissan 370
ST: Mini Cooper, VW GTI, BWM 328, Honda Civic, Mazda Speed3, Kia Koup, Porsche Boxster

    SportsMan/Total Showcase (New B-Spec series)
    Mini Cooper, Ford Fiesta, Mazda

    Star Mazda - Mazda MX-5s

    Superkarts:
    Formula/E - 250cc Twin-Cylinder (100 HP), IC/E - 250cc Single Cylinder

Also a Race & Rods Car Show

The RSR Team will be there racing Mini Coopers in the ST class.

This year there will be a Mini Cooper corral for great parking. This is a great way to see and meet Minis/Owners from all around California.

Laguna Seca has a great deal for Mini Cooper Corral tickets that include:
$60 for Car and Driver (Admission/Paddock for Friday – Sunday, Mini Corral Parking, Event Program)
$50 for passengers (Sat & Sun - Admin, Paddock, and Program)
Individual days also available $30 Sat and $40 Sun.
Fan Parade Lap (Sat) can be purchased for $50.

Here is a link to purchase tickets (let me know if you have questions before ordering):

Ordered my Mini Corral ticket yesterday and I am looking forward to the event.
So far no one else from my club has responded to me that they are going. Hopefully I can drum up a little more interest from my club members.

I was the only one from the CCMC club to attend the Grand Am races at Laguna Seca (Monterey, CA) but I had a great weekend.
There was a Mini Cooper Corral for us to park near the track. There were 40 Minis in the corral on Saturday. Mini USA shipped out the new GP to be on display before it had even been released at the auto shows. There were five different races to watch over the weekend plus a car show. With all the different types of cars it was great to see them up close in the pits and pre-race grid. Laguna Seca is a great place to watch races because you can walk around the whole track to observe from many different locations.

Here is a link to photos I took at Laguna Seca in September. I know it is now December but it took me a while to sort through the photos and get a limited amount (121) loaded.

The photo titles include the class that the car racing in (DP, GT, GS, ST, TP, SM) and the car number. DP = Daytona Prototype, GT = Grand Touring, GS = Grand Sport, ST = Street Touring, TP = Total Performance Showcase, and SM = Start Mazda. Most of the titles also state the type of car. Such as ST195_Mini Cooper which is ST class car number 195 that is a Mini Cooper. Most photos have a short description or at least the finishing place of the car.
