Pat, Jim, and I attended the Auto-X at the Santa Maria, CA Airport on Saturday 10/04/2014. The Auto-X was put on by the Vapor Trail Vettes (VTV). Here is a link to photos on our CCMC Flickr page. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ccmc_club/sets/72157648044066968/
Nice pictures. I was stationed at Vandenberg for five years back in the early 80's and spent a lot of time in SM. Never even knew they had an airport.
Looks good, did the Vette club set it up to favor the fast v8 cars or was it more technical? Looks like they had enough cones. Don
It was setup to favor the higher horsepower cars but they usually design their courses to have plenty of technical sections. This had two separate slaloms plus two pretty tight 180s. Average time was about 57 seconds. The Auto-X courses usually use a large portion of the Porsche 2012 Carrera test track built by Porsche for journalist introduction/drive. After the journalist event Porsche donated the track to the airport.
