I HAVE 2004 MINI WITH 57K ON IT.NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW.COUPLE DAYS AGO WHEN DRIVING AND CHANGING GEARS UP I FELT CLICK IN MY CLUTCH PEDAL AND PEDAL GOT VERY SOFT.I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS,BUT CAR DOESN'T REACT TO IT MUCH.I CAN DRIVE THE CAR ABOUT 30 MPH.CHANGING RPM DOESN'T REALLY DO MUCH.FEELS LIKE CLUTCH IS CONNECTING TRANSMITION TO THE ENGINE IN 10%.I DID BLEAD CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER.DIDN'T HELP.DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANY BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING ANYWHERE AND NO FLUID IS MISSING.ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IS IT?

The slave cylinders in the 1st generation MINIs are not the best out there. Does the pedal stay on the floor or is it very slow to return when pressed. If so then the slave cylinder is probably about go out.

Pedal is little bit slow to return, but comes back all the way.Got better after bleeding, but didn't solve the problem at all.Interesting part is that car goes much better in reverse:mad2::mad2:

Definetly check the slave cylinder. Bleeding the clutch requires a special tool cause the piston has to be compressed to be bleed.

    John..
You do know the MINI slave cylinder is a little tricky to bleed. You need to push it in and hold in the collapsed position to get all of the air out of the line. But, caution, don't push it too far, or damage to slave cylinder seals will result. Somewhere on this forum is a detailed discussion.

I KNOW AND I THINK I DID IT THE RIGHT WAY.NOW I THINK THAT MAY NOT BE SLAVE CYLINDER PROBLEM.NEW CYLINDER FEELS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AS THE OLD ONE.DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH OLD CYLINDER,NO LEAKS,NO DAMAGE.I AM STILL ABLE TO SWITCH NO ANY GEAR WITH NO PROBLEM,BUT WHEN I LET GO CLUTCH ENGINE BEARLY PULLS.IT IS STILL STRONGER ON REVERSE THAN FIRST GEAR FORWARD.I DON'T THING BAD SLAVE CYLINDER WILL MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE GOING FORWARD OR REVERSE.

Glad it is all done. MINI clutches do not seem to be the most robust design.

Also, your CAPS LOCK is stuck on. ;)

    Merry Christmas!
