I own a 2002 R50 Mini cooper w/ Automatic CVT. My MINI has 140k miles and I'm unsure if the previous owner every had the transmission fluid changed. So my question is... where should I take my MINI to have it serviced? Only reason I'm worried about taking it to a local shop is due to the CVT and if the shop has experience working on them. I understand that I might be worried for nothing but Id rather be on the safe side and ask someone who knows. I called my local MINI dealership and they want 280 to change it. Any thoughts from an experience MINI owner?

Take a look in the library. There is a "how to" on changing the fluid in a 6 speed that may give you some pointers.

I've had my 2003 Cooper CVT fluid flushed twice over the past 6 years at a non-MINI shop that had an ex-MINI tech working there.. Cost was about the same as your quote.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check some local shops and get some quotes, I was mainly worried about whether or not the CVT was similar to other transmissions or if i need to go to someone who has experience.

    Thanks time for a :beer
