Sorry if this is a dumb question, but will a 2005 1.6l "justacooper" head fit on a 2004 1.6l MINI S ?? same motor right?
The part number for the '04 S head is 11127508536 The part number for the '05 Justa head is 11127508536 So YES, it fits.
The heads match but the valves are different. They're the same size and fit the same head (obviously) but the S valves are Inconel.
Maybe I'm doin' it wrong, but when I look it up I get the same part numbers for the valves as well, indicating that the valves are the same. Again, sorry but that is what I get. Steve, maybe you could look up the part numbers and see what you get?
05 Cooper Exhaust Valve Part # 11-34-7-513-024 as per RealOEM.com  BMW R50 Cooper Valve Timing Gear - Cam Shaft 04 S Exhaust Valve Part # 11-34-7-513-020 as per RealOEM.com  BMW R53 Cooper S Valve Timing Gear - Cam Shaft
Thanks Nathan, I read it incorrectly. I read the '05 R50 exhaust valve part number for the leaded fuel engine by mistake. That is the same part number as for the '04 S. My bad. The leaded fuel engine must ship to some special markets, but not in the US.
Nathan listed the exhaust valves but the intake valves are different as well. Though now that I think about it I can't imagine why they would need to use Inconel on the intake side. Numbers below lifted from the same links provided by Nathan. 05 Cooper Intake Valve Part # 11347513023 04 S Intake Valve Part # 11347513019
Are the different years making any difference? I know there were some changes/updates from '04 to '05. At least in transmissions. Maybe there were more subtle and less publicized changes in the engine?
Heads are all the same!! They all cross fit!! However ( there is THAT word again) the Head that fits the r53's have the better valves for the heat from the sc. SOOooooooo.... go from r53 to r50 !! Cool! Go from r50 to r53, you need to change valves!! Just me.................................... Thumper PS I should think it will work for a while, it isnt like the valves are going to burn in the first 100 miles, cool?? TPR.
Be cautious of using and by use comparing any part number(s) from guide source other than a Authorized BMW/MINI dealer. Even Real OEM. Many of the parts now have superseded numbers not listed in most of the available parts information resources. You can use listed sources to order at BMW/MINI Authorized Dealers the numbers will automatically be superseded.
What can happen if you use the Cooper valves in an S? How about this... As to RealOEM, it is a very good source, it is rare that they are behind with the part number super-session. One can also cross check RealOWM against other sources such as Pelican Parts and Penske Parts to verify and of course checking with your local dealer. However, over 100's of parts I sold back when I did MINI parts for a while RealOEM was correct in every instance.
Totally!! I have heard that the OEM numbers for complete heads dont show any differance... I also know a few racers that didnt know there was a differance in valve material.. and ran the stock r50 valves in a r53.... good picture Nate!! However it wasn't done in a short time. To y'all MA people... IF you need some stock Inconel r53 (used Valves- cleaned and machined) let me know.... lol I have a few from doing up grades to stainless !! Just a thought............. Thumper
NO, stock piling a couple heads to use as cores when I upgrade to a TPR head, I figured a couple cores might get me some additional $ knocked off in addition to the core charge. Anyway I was just wondering if a Justa head was useable on an S head and you guys answered that question sufficiently
No worries there... I Change ALL the valves anyway!! So send the r50 heads! Yes I can discount for add'l heads that are good. Dont forget to see about snagging an intake.. so that can be matched to the Head also.. made add'l 10 HP/Tq!! cool?? Thanks.. Just me.................................... Thumper
