I'd guess many of those over nanny'd cars are owned by lawyers. Didn't take them long. Read first on Jalopnik. rrr:
When I first started going to BMWCCA HPDEs in 2005, there were lots of New MINIs there. As the years passed, fewer and fewer MINIs were in attendance. I learned that a lot of the BMW drivers just could not accept a "Bimmer Lite" that was cheaper and could really stress out most of them on the track and were complaining to the organization. I stopped going to the track in 2012 and gave up my BMWCCA membership. I had the only MINI in attendance in the A/B group for the last 2 years. So, I can see that the B-Snobs got their way. Last year, BMWCCA sent me an email wanting to know my opinions, so I basically told them the above. They have not responded. It's THEIR loss.
I've never had a bad experience at any track day where I drove my MINI. I'm not as experienced as you are with BMWCCA track days. In the two that I attended I felt no animosity to me or my little BLU Brit car. Folks came over, talked with me about my car. I was made to feel very welcome. I only stopped running their track days due to costs, they ain't cheap. You must have passed too many BMW's Jeff.
not had bmw problems with my mini at the track, but the slow porsche drivers refuse to give a point by when I do formal hpde schools, the last one I did the instructor got so mad we moved up a class to get away from them when I do open track hpde like NASA, it's not been a problem
I have found this to be a problem in the past. Ended doing what you did by moving up. Some guys don't seem to understand track day etiquette.
