Dragon Bound Mini in Distress - Knoxville area

    Just saw this posted up on the PhillyMINI facebook page:

    "I-81 just north of Abington VA and I lose power, power steering. Brake, ABS, traction lights come on yellow, battery light is red. Now it won't even turn over.
    Made to a gas station. The nearest MINI dealership is Flow MINI, 105 miles away."

    Is there anyone that's Dragon-bound or within spitting distance who can lend a fellow MINI enthusiast a hand?

    She's getting towed to Knoxville MINI now. Also, car is an R53, equipped with Alta pulley - apparently when she had the belt changed, they put a stock R53 belt on the car. Anyone have a belt?

    Just to be sure, check your crank pulley, it has a rubber center than can fail......

    Yep, sounds like either vanilla belt failure, or belt failure caused by crank pulley failure. Been there, done that.

    Or the alternator doesn't alternate.

    I believe it was the alternator and MINI of Knoxville hooked her up with a loaner to take to the Dragon...
