I rather foolishly forgot to write down any of the details that were provided by an MA member on the custom driveshafts/axles he had made by these guys - THE DRIVESHAFT SHOP I think the post was early March, but not sure if recoverable (my membership was also lost) Did anyone make a note of the part numbers/spec details ? I'm over in the UK and want to make sure I get the spec of the driveshafts 100% if i'm shipping them over from the States. My car sits pretty low and puts out a decent amount of power, so tougher driveshafts/axles with bigger joints are essential. Thanks
Royster, I emailed them about axles for the automatic R53s... they said they could make them with samples provided. That's it. Sorry! I didn't save any info from the original post. Nor do I remember who posted the original info...
I think it may have been AzBlakOut or something close to that spelling that created the original post.
I stumbled across this site http://www.ultrarev.com They appear to sell 2 versions of Drive Shaft Shop Axles, ones up to 475, and then a non race axle.
If it was AZBlackOut - you can contact him through BSH (I think a vendor here) PM me if you need his name.
This is the company I use and install on friends Minis. The Heavy Duty/race version are 300M Chromoly on the axles which is superior in strength to the stock axle. The CV joints are made in house. The cages are polished and hand assembled using the highest quality bearing available. If you are going to replace you axles and having any engine mods that increased you power than spend the extra and get the HD axles. THE DRIVESHAFT SHOP
Thanks guys, really helpful stuff Jeff - thanks for the link to UltraRev & Lynn its all good as those guys are a dealer for the Driveshaft Shop (i've ordered the performance set rated to 475hp & I won't exceed that without nitrous plummed in )
I've sent them an email, but with the craving for instant-gratification I figured I would ask here as well. Does anyone know if the driveshaftshop has started creating second gen axles yet? I asked in the original thread, now lost, but now I forget the answer. Are the CV joints manufactured in a way such that it cures any binding due to the axle angle on lowered cars? Is this something unique to just the race level products or the base level as well?
Who has installed axles from the DriveShaftShop? What is your experience with them, and would you recommend them for a daily driver?
I have them installed on my car, they out at the moment as I'm rebuilding the engine. It' a nice quality piece of hardware! Will take a pic if you want.
You may read post #8 Also I took Jim's (post #9) suggestion and called Steve at Custom Mini Shop who did in fact get a set for his customers MINI. You might call him about the experience as my comments would be second hand. But I can say it was a positive one! Custom MINI shop custom mini shop
What is your experience with the DriveShaftShop Level 0 axles on stock MINI's? I have an R50 stock engine, JCW Sound Kit, JCW Sport Brakes, and JCW Sport Suspension.
I installed the base level axles on 2 MINIs both R53 one completely stock and the other with the common mild performance upgraded parts. The HD or race versions I ordered for my personal MINI but they are still on the to do self along with a dozen other parts waiting to go be installed.
