For all those who think driving is a secondary task to what ever else they might be doing:

The problem with driving is that most people think they are above average drivers and it's always the other guy you need to watch out for. Driving for the most part is pretty easy but that is what makes it so dangerous, you can get away with bad driving for a long time before it backfires on you.

There are also some who brag about being "offensive drivers." I was riding through DC once with a guy who told us he was an offensive driver as soon as we started moving. The three of us riding with him laughed, but realized he wasn't kidding as he constantly swerved violently to cut people off by what seemed like inches, tailgated and honked, etc. When he wasn't cursing out an "idiot" (or usually worse, of course) for being in his way he was smiling and laughing at his successful passing maneuvers and crowding. When one of us complained about a particularly dangerous move, he laughed assuming we were kidding. There are plenty of others like this guy and he wasn't distracted at all. I wonder whether he'd ease off to make or take a call.

Later I told him he needed to take that kind of stuff to the track and off the public roads. He said I should lighten up, he'd never hit anyone plus this is how you make everyday driving not boring.....

Trust me, some of the stunts I see people pull don't make everyday driving boring, scary maybe, but not boring.

I was not moved by the offensive stupid stunts ---

Much more moved at the Mom just looking back at her child.

Those simple innocent mistakes are much more tragic.
