Did anyone else feel that? Magnitude 5.8 earthquake, epicenter near Charlottesville, VA. The 5th floor of my office bldg in Raleigh was shaking for a couple minutes. Yikes! Never felt one of those before.

And my car was home on jack stands! But my roommate checked, it's all good.

Yeah, My building is on a slab, I could feel the slab ripple. I could even tell the direction it was coming from, the south east of us. The first thing we noticed was the cubicals started rattling.

Yep, I felt it clear up here. I could see the desk top moving, felt it in the floor and could not figure out what was going on. :eek6:

If you felt it, you should go to the USGS page here and click on the "Did you feel it?" button to report.

Experiencing a fairly strong earthquake is an awesome (in the real sense of the word) event.

My whole house shook. It was loud too, first from outside and then the sound became sounds my house was making. I have cracks in the sheet rock on one wall so going to have to check on the foundation, etc.

I didn't feel it, but my co-worker did.

He's 6'5", 220# and he suddenly ran past me while we were having a conversation and braced himself in the doorframe behind me.

    I said "W. T. F. are you doing?"

He replied, "Didn't you feel the building shaking?!!!"

Me: "Um, no....are you gonna be ok?"

He was scared to death, but we're laughing about it now.

We call a 5.9 a " starter quake " :) Living 4 miles from several different fault lines here in Northridge gives you a different perspective :)
