I had a little water problem this spring ( a roof drain disconnect ... ), so i got about 1-2" of water on the driver side ... I was f****** piss about the situation, but clean everything and dry the best I can ... Now it seem that the water got in the electrical ... RPM cluster doesn't work ( no temp, no rpm info, but it still light up in night ... ), locking doors doesn't work ( but unlock seem to work ), ventilation still working, without keys in contact, airbag light is on, front wipers doesn't work ( but rear seem working ) and sometime engine still running without keys in contact ...

I really don't know what to do ... I cleaned all connections I was able to reach ...

    Need help seriously ...

BCM might be wet or got wet. (Body Control Module) It is mounted under the carpet. If it shorted out....ouch! The BCM is coded to each car and is an expensive replacement. Let's hope it's something else.

Yup that's right where the BCM is in the 1st gen MINI's is. That will cost a little to to be replaced but others have had the same thing happen and had to have it replaced to fix the car.

Just think iPad in pond = no workie right anymore. :frown2:

The connectors in the harness to the BCM get correoded after a water leak like that....you might have to have them repaired as well.....Best of luck!!

I did a quick check of all BCM connectors and they seem good !! But there's a plug close to fuse panel, near driver foot who got my attention ...

Each BCM is coded to the car. A new one is your only choice and them it has to be coded to your car. Where are you located?

I've been told that you can not reprogram a used one. Others may know differently and can post up.

Similar issue I just noticed the passenger air bag light turned on. Could this also be the BCM. And is locate under the passenger seat. I noticed some enclosed box. But not sure if that's it. All I recall was that shortly after or for the first time I ever had passengers in the rear seat that shortly that light came on. Does anyone have suggestions.
