About a week ago my passenger door lock stopped working, via electronics; i.e. switch, or remote. Could still lock it manually and feels fine in that regard. Figured it is the lock module inside the door, and thought no big, i will replace it when i see fit. Well yesterday the window stopped working. Randomly, just like the door lock. Thankfully it did so with the window up. About 3 weeks ago some 'special' to me made a booboo and rolled backwards while the DRIVERS door was open and it caught pretty badly on a poll at a gas station. No very visible damage and everything lines up correctly, so no harm no foul. I have an IANs auto-up and thought maybe it had come loose, negative, even w/o in there i have the same exact problems. Could the door on the drivers side opening to the extremely and contact the wireloom going into the jam effect the passenger side ? I know some cars where that would be very likely the problem, but they also have switches in the door. So what do you guys think ? I have a feel it is the switch bank causing the problems. Thanks -Ken
Wow, not fun. More astute folks will likely have better suggestions, but I know I'd be out there checking fuses first -- just in case -- before spending any energy on more difficult solutions. ------------- edit: Should have read more carefully -- now I see it's just one door -- forget the fuses idea.
Checked the fuses, and also tried the 're-learning' for the power locks. (Key in POS1 and hold the lock button for 10sec) Also the remote-down feature for the windows and sunroof does not operate the pass window. Something else that just donged on me is that the driver for the H/K system hasnt worked in 4-5 months. . . I think i am going to have to remove the door panel and check wires..
LoL . . . :mad2::mad5::mad2::mad5: Headlights stopped working, but will if i flash the highbeams. Auto A/C is completely dead too. Via my radar detector the voltage is fine. BC1 anyone ? :cryin:
Well fuse F40 fixed all but the pass door lock. Door lock is most likely just that, the whole assembly inside the door. So frustrating ! Oh well.
Funny, I was thinking fuses again but the single door lock biz didn't fit so I dropped it because I figured it was all related and fuses couldn't explain all of it. Good thing you checked. I'm glad everything else is working at least. Does the passenger door auto-lock when you start driving?
You know i havent taken notice, but i want to say no it does not. And the door lock is what had me thinking a 'progressive failure' of the BC1 or something along those lines. And yeah, i am more frustrated with myself on this. F40 is 'related' but not in the ways i thought it would be. Initially i just checked all the fuses i thought applied, when i should have checked very single one. I used to have one of those stupid little LED testers, guess i need to find it and make sure it is easy to find for things like this.
Still seems like rather coincidental timing for there to be no relationship between the door and the rest. Then again, I'm the guy who always assumes the worst, which is probably why I wouldn't be surprised if there's another element involved here that connects it all and causes more trouble.....though I have no idea what it would be. I think I'd look for that tester if I were you, just in case.
