If I did this right here is the info on the 2014 edition of Eric's Riverrun. :fingerscrossed: Thanks for the great artwork Carol
Glad you will make it Nick, contact the registrar after April 1st. I do not keep track of such things.
Yes we've been that way before. We mixed it up a bit, but I'm sure parts will be familiar to you. Only so many back roads to take.
All of the years seem to tun together with each other. We ate lunch at Moyers winery on the river. 2010 as I recall. This is Eric's drive that Bill & I help continue. Eric liked old British cars, he wasn't a car snob & also liked many different cars as I do too. Everyone is welcome even car snobsters. All profit goes to a good cause. Fun cars on fun roads, life is good. :cornut:
I do remember eating at the winery and recall it being quite good! I love seeing all the different cars that come out for Riverrun (even the Slowstices), it is what always makes this my favorite event of the year!
I miss my MINI, but I never miss River Run. Maybe I will see if Jill will let me take her Honda this year
Eric Jones was THE GUY if you had a British car that needed fixed in the Ohio and neighboring states. He and Crashton were great friends and organized this drive for other like minded souls. They both rallied in Ohio so they know all the best back roads and make simply the best routes available. A few years ago Eric passed away, I believe from cancer, and while the River Run lives on it added a charity bent where we all pay a nominal fee for a route map and the money goes to cancer research. The Buckeye Miata and Ohio British Car Clubs all pitch in to help and it is just a fantastic experience. For me the best part is just spending a day out on the back roads with like minded people. There is always a great lunch break option (personally the hot dog joint was my favorite to date) and each year I have ended up talking with some interesting people who usually have some odd ball car. Last year I talked to a guy who was pissing people off because he was driving a Viper under the speed limit and holding up traffic, what made him awesome to me was he had his son in the car so he was driving carefully so as not to scare / kill them both. The year before it was a Cortina that I think was also a father son group only the dad was the passenger (that car sounded amazing I don't think it had a muffler). The other great thing is usually at some point something crazy happens where a road is closed or a group of people misinterpret the directions and all of the sudden you are driving down a gravel road in a Subaru leaving a dust cloud two counties long not knowing there are 2 or 3 MINIs who decided to follow you. I could go on for days about this event it is just a great day. Everybody should participate either drive or ride along it is fun to do either.
Well said Allen thank you. Just to ease the minds of the gravelphobes among us, no gravel roads will be used. But if you see some you like have at it. Many wonderful roads in our great state are gravel & are a heck of a lot of fun. This tour is self guided. We give you the tools to have a fun day driving with your buddy's. Follow the route, explore a bit, stop & smell the roses. Please don't expect to be held by the hand & led along in a large group. Looking forward to this Riverrun. It's been a painfully long winter & the back roads are calling me.
...and said (red) Subaru driver had been secretly looking for a gravel road all day that he could blame the map for finding
I'm sure there will be a run to Remo's sometime this summer/fall. There also has been some talk about going to Hillbilly Hotdog.
