This is reportedly available in September from MINI…. JCW exhaust with carbon tips and bi-modal feature controlled with a bluetooth remote from inside the car. From what I understand it has two modes: Number 1, which produces a sound identical to the stock S exhaust. Number 2, which bypasses the rear silencer and sounds like this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0UubALhIes"]F56 Cooper S JCW Exhaust with Bi Modal - YouTube[/ame] The crackles are amazing - I will be ordering for certain!
My R32 had something similar that was vacuum actuated. Many owners just crimped the line for a more full time sound increase.
I don't get it. An exhaust controlled by Bluetooth? Why not install a switch on the dash? "Damn exhaust keeps getting unpaired from my Nexus 5"
Uh, how many Bluetooth devices can you pair with a phone in your car at one time? ("Sorry I can't talk to you right now, because my MINI is in the fart-pipe mode. Please leave a message at the tone.")
I can think of some really bad jokes about this thread.... Interesting idea....I guess the Bluetooth thing is to get more "tech street creed" even though a simple wire and a switch would be more reliable... But get far less press ....heck, CNET, etc will run a story about how techy the new mini is with a "blurtooth " add-on.... Guess they are hopeing a few folks buy it just for that reason...... I can just see the questions on this in a few years...having to tell folks to replace the batteries in their exaust.....
Yep, I agree. I like the bi-modal idea and the sound is pretty good but I'd like to know more about the bluetooth side of this thing. Agree a switch seems simpler, more reliable, etc, but maybe the bluetooth control biz is not quite what we perennial skeptics are visualizing?
The control of the exhaust is nothing it do with a phone. Jesus, some people really are just so intent on bashing the F56 that they forget to engage their brains!!! It's a small, hand held, machined aluminium control unit which sends a Bluetooth signal to the exhaust to bypass the rear silencer. The exhaust will have a Bluetooth receiver, which upon receiving the signal will electronically move a flap to create the bypass.
^^^Will the app be a free download for my I-phone? Then I can mess with the F56 when I pull up next to it..... When I wave.... Of course.... Heh Heh Heh You so serious.....
Thanks for the attitude. When I called MINI, I was told that it would be able to be controlled by a smartphone.
Because attitude.... Because Mayflower..... Because Jamestown.... Because Paul Revere.... Because pound Red Coats.... Because Merica.... Because 4th of July...
Yea, but can it do this? :ihih: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg00FV9S6is]30ft Flamethrower exhaust! - YouTube[/ame]
