The F56 JCW Exterior package will debut for the 2015 model year later this summer. That’s the word straight from MINI USA products managers from the floor of NYIAS. The JCW exterior package will consist of wheels, aero-kit and some new trim. It appears that the package will be purely cosmetic (much like the current […]

    "purely cosmetic …"

Ugh, further dilution of the John Cooper Works brand. The 2015 F56 fJCW had better be good - really good.

They've been offering a "purely cosmetic" JCW exterior kit for years. This is nothing new.

    I know ... :frown5:

I don't mind that there's a line of JCW parts available for upgrading any MINI. I just wish MINI had kept the JCW Hardtop as a more exclusive "halo" car with even more performance upgrades. Heck, I even added the GP underbody aero kit to my JCW as an upgrade.

I have to be careful where I tread since we have JCW's and of course they have the current aero package, so i am afraid of getting into a pot and kettle situation here :biggrin5:

IF the pictures are accurate, my problem is that it is WAY overdone on the aero. Reminds me of those aftermarket aero kits people put on Camaros and Potiac Sunfires...stuff hanging way outside the lines of the car...

the concept F56 JCW at the Detroit show was just too much...

I like the existing JCW aero as they took the minimalistic approach, and it stays tight to the countours of the body of the car.

Yup, it is a fine line between making something blend / flow into the original design so it looks a little bit better and yet is still functional. Once you go over that fine line you quickly get into the oversized JDM or "Ghetto" body kits with hug overhangs, lots of unneeded vents, LED's and HUGE rear spoilers.
