Did Augie up over the weekend 12 hours of PC heaven...... First time with a proper PC. Previous with a cheapy buffer from our friends at Walmart Thanks to OG for a couple of timely tips :cornut: Gotta learn to get the light/camera angle to get the swirl shots from the Chili Red. One on the A Pillars pretty indicative of the overall paint condition. Steps- Dawn wash, taped off, Mothers back to black on the rubber, Swirl, Amigo, Epic All in all pretty satisfied. Always room for improvement Pic's Login | Facebook
Now I get to do the interior and theres pulling off the wheels and do a inside/out..............MINI mania never has a end! :ihih:
How do view the photos?? I'm sure it's right in front of me somehow but I can't figure it out. -Heather
Can't see them either, shows there are 14 but nothing there. Also one has to log into facebook to see them.
Here ya go... Started out by washing the MINI with Dawn dishwasing liquid to get rid of everything (yes I washed it in the rain...........) Taped off and getting set to take the claybar to it Taped off and getting set to take the claybar to it, you can see some of what I am up against paint swirl wise See the paint swirls? PC and some Swirl........gone! The door, hard to pick up the swirls, could not get the light right, about as bad as the roof/pillars, trust me meanwhile something like 10 hours later.......... more after shots Larger shots from source at Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/19863345@N04/
Awesome work, Tim! Although it takes many hours to be so thorough, doesn't feel great when it looks so juicy perfect?! Gotta love it. Thanks for putting the pics up! -Heather
As Dennis Quaid/Eddie said in Christmas Vacation "It's the gift that keeps on giving" !! On top of that I added a coat of BG before a all british car show here in St. Louis. Lookin' mighty shiny! Course next day took it out on a 300+ mile romp across rural missouri in the rain. It's a mess now! But damn it was allota fun! Thanks again for all the support Heather!
Ha-ha! Yeah, that's the downside to detailing... of course we want to drive too! (and drive hard whenever possible!) At least the mess will cleanup really easily now and you'll be back to your beautiful shine again. :yesnod: Always my pleasure to help out! -Heather
2 questions: What is that blue tape? Can I use painters tape that I have around the house or is that something specific for cars? What happened to the other stripe on that poor MINI?
Yep, just painters blue tape from any home center. I cut some down to size to trim around, for example, the hood scoop. Keeps the polish/wax/whatever outta there. (OG tips). tip-when taping off rubber or plastic the painters tape does not like to stick to it. Run the tape about 1/16" to 1/8" onto the paint. No damage, just a little bit of buffing. Compared to trying to keep the polish/wax away from it....priceless. On the stripes-I was going sooo fast down a missouri backroad that the other one just came clean off. :ihih:
