does anyone know if its mandatory to get FIA approved seat? i heard a couple different reasons but people run corbeau seats (which i'm looking at) and i don't think they have any FIA approved. way nicer prices than the sparcos that i want... thanks

    Mandatory to run where?

For an HPDE it is not required, however, most every group has a run of like kind for passenger. Meaning if you go and put a Sparco Evo and 6 pt harness for the driver you need to have something similar for the passenger/instructor.

many sanctioning bodies for wheel to wheel racing don't even require fia approved seats. non-fia-approved seats will require a seat brace that is connected to the roll cage. check the rules where you want to compete. fia approval also comes w/ the expense of an expiration date, meaning that the seat will have to be replaced every five years IIRC.

Scott McIntyre just opened a MINI shop called Motoring Magic in Ventura county (I know that's a little too far South for you to drop by), but he used to run an airbag business. I'm sure he can identify the resistor you need, and also a source for it as well, if he can't hook you up directly.

Contact him through the website for his new shop:
