Found this new flash light over at griot's that might be pretty cool to keep in the garage. i like the fact that it's LED cause you'll probably detect more swirls/haze while detailing tight areas.

    only $10. :D

this might be cool... as a laundry basket for used MF towels! :p

Well...as much as I'd love for there to be 10x the traffic I'm a realist. The site is less than 1.5 months old and while there are around 575 members there is not yet that large member base that produces large amount of traffic. In time we will be there and every post by someone other than myself helps that growth.

Some of us have used this for awhile. I prefer clay to be a bit stiffer but this is my second choice. Identical to Mothers so I usually get the Mothers at Checkers or Pep Boys for $18 with lube and a 3 gram bar.
Gosh I wish DP would get clay back in stock.

i didn't know this site was so young, actually. nice job acquiring 575 members already. :)

so are you saying the DP clay is better? i tried DP's clay
and it worked fine, but the way it kneaded it broke up
easily so was a little different from what I expected.

the blue clay kneads nicely. :) and doesn't harden up
while using like Mother's clay or get real gooey like Griot's mud.

I get the Meguiars blue clay from Octaneguy's store (shameless sponsor plug) and prefer it over other clays I've tried. I bought a big bottle of concentrated quick detailer on clearance and mix my own clay lube with that.

[IMGL]http://www.toolsnob.com/pictures/light_on.jpg[/IMGL] For tool recommendations here goes. I'm not blessed with a well lit work area to detail my car and since I live in an apartment anything I take down to work on my car needs to be somewhat portable. I have a folding Husky work light that uses two Fluorescent bulbs, is plenty bright to work and detail with, and folds down to about the size of one of those folding chairs and fits perfectly in the back of a MINI with the seats up.
Also you turn it on and off by pulling the top part out of the lower tube, when it's down and in the off position a set of blue LEDs mark where the light is, it's kept me from tripping over this light after turning it off in a dark garage more than a few times while my eyes adjusted.

I didnt know those things worked? They seem so 3:00am infomercialish. Who makes it and did you get it from a somewhat respectable auto detailing place?

For the same price you can get a Mr. Clean sprayer with a spotless water filter and foam. I use it for the black car since spotting happens so fast. The filter eliminates spotting and gives me time to hydro dry.

you dont actually use the mr. clean cleaning solution crap though do you?? You just pour mystique, etc into the bottle and it comes out a sudsy spray? I guess it would be beneficial to have a filtered sprayer. Lots of crap in our water supply to say the least!

I got this from Griot and the quality is far better then the Mr. Clean. I just fill my wash bucket w/ grit guard with water and use it to ring out the wash sponge.

This cuts the washing time by a significant amount.

I have one of those Griot's sprayers also - kensan turned me onto it, I use it sometimes - it works well, but I'm just not convinced that some soap solution sprayed on the car is as effective as a whole mitt FULL of soap solution, when it comes to lifting grit without swirling... maybe it is, I'm just not convinced.

yah, i dont use that sprayhead anymore. :eek:ut:

JUST KIDDING!!! hahaha. nono, that Griot's 9POS
spray head works GREAT. As Jeff mentioned, if you use
your washbucket with water to rinse out your washmit
after a few passes, it does very well. i like to use the
JET mode to blast off dead dangling worms from the
    fender area.

hey deviant, that light is cool. you said husky... did you buy at HomeDepot?
