Hey thanks for all the great info on running an autocross. This past weekend I thoroughly enjoyed the day's race and now look forward to putting to even better use the ideas many of you shared. I managed some great times and I think I'm hooked. The club that ran the event allowed instructors to ride along with novice drivers and that helped out with more things to look for. First race is over and I'm looking forward to the next one! Thanks again, Pete.
Excellent fun! Autox is the best forum for learning strong safe street driving. I did about 20+ events last year and will do the same this year. Glad you enjoyed it!! When you start thinking about classes check out the thread on STX. It has some good info. I'm moving from STX to DSP and might start a discussion on that at some point.
I'm glad you had a good experience. It's a great way to play without a whole bunch of risk. I ran STX last year because the other MINIs in DS were running R-Comps while I was on street tires. I actually took 1st in STX this year and my car was completely stock aside from dumping the Run-Flats. I'm going to get some R-Comps and go back to DS this year though. I'm now gonna warn you about one danger of AutoX. It can be the gateway motorsport. You'll find people there are into doing horrible things like: Recreational Karting (Electric or Gas), Shifter Karting, Trackdays or HPDEs, Time Attacks, SCCA Solo 1, Hill Climbs, Even the horrific wheel-to-wheel racing! LOL, I keed I keed. I've gotten pulled into other events and it's bunches of fun. Funny thing is that I still AutoX. It's still an awesome kind of event. I will give you the standard AutoX tech regards: "Have fun. Go fast. Miss cones. In that order."
