It all started so innocently. I saw a 2006 MCS Cabrio for sale. DW and I discussed it for a few days and decided it was time to have a little automotive fun. So, down went the bank account and we went to get our little bundle of joy. As we began the drive home, the TPMS reported something amiss. A quick investigation revealed low tire pressure in one tire and some scary-looking tire wear on both rear tires. A quick press-up remedied the low pressure and we drove home SLOWLY and I called the tire shop. On Tuesday at noon, the tires were done and some of the wicked negative camber was removed. Then something odd happened...I pulled away from the tire store. 2500 RPM, 3000, 3500. Shift. 3000, 3500. Big stupid grin...I actually laughed out loud (I am a rather stoic person by nature.) The midnight visits to the garage began. Slow and tender washing. Top-down motoring. Me in my ball cap, DW sporting a stylish scarf and fetching sunglasses. That was last week. Yesterday morning, I drove to the airport at 5AM, empty roads and me smiling like an idiot all the way. On the plane and off to Pennsylvania. Last night, I dreamed of putting the top down, punching the throttle and finally, finally enjoying driving again. Needless to say, I am hooked. I have resolved to never be without a MINI again. So, thank you for the forum, I am glad to have finally reached motoring heaven!
Ah, the endless fun and grinning. Goes on and on for some of us...almost 11 years straight for me.....so far. Welcome to the MINI addiction.
Been there, felt that.... and still feeling it, 6.5 years and 130k miles later. Congrats and welcome.
Ah yes loving the mini. If you want it to love you back buy a torque wrench and give it what it wants. :cornut:

Oh, I've got a torque wrench and I'm looking forward to deploying it. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!
I'm still head over heels and coming up to its one year anniversary. Glad you can join us and share your story.
Yes I know that feeling the first test drive had me giggling like a kid again. And the drive home from the dealer had me laughing all the way home. The '04 S has a new home and is being taken care of like it should be now with love and getting lots of washes, PM maintenance, and Motoring. Welcome to the greatest site on the web.
yep As they have said, it happens to most all of us in one way or another... welcome to the Mini Family.
I did exactly the same thing. 2006 R52 with 16k on the clock, from a dealer. All I knew was buying a convertible. Didn't know difference between an MCS or MC or options. First test drive didn't impress me - dark rainy night. But now after 32,000, road rally runs with the club, trips, and most all the street performance mods, I have the near perfect car. I lucked out - the car was loaded with nearly all the factory options. Can't hardly wait to drive it each week, and smiles keep coming. Getting ATI Super damper and new belt installed next week.
Yup yup! That's how it goes. Welcome to our - and now your - world ) Mild depression and separation anxiety can kick in when you get off the plane and into a rental. Usually I just sit in the rental for a few pouting until I get over it.
Welcome aboard! I've always driven muscle cars in my past, but one ride in a MINI had me hooked. 7 years and 97K miles later, I've never closed the door and walked away without looking back with a silly grin.
My MINI is going to have it's 10th Birthday in July. I have a few presents in mind and I'm still excited.:biggrin5: Welcome to the BEST MINI site on the net.
