Barry Allen, the Silver Age Flash died in 1985 during Crisis on Infinite Earths, and stayed dead for over 20 years. He was only recently revived, leading to some confusion with his protégé Wally West, who had been the Flash for that entire time.
Jay Garrick, the first (Golden Age) Flash was thought dead for some time, but due to spending some time in a timeless Limbo, is still alive and well.
This is of course ignoring the "New 52" debacle that is responsible for the current mess that DC is in.
In the picture below, Barry is in the light colored suit, Wally in the darker red, and Jay is on the right. The rest of the speedsters have other names.

For a minute I thought DC killed off another character.
I'm glad it's dead. It's been a pain in the a$$. I only have a few clients still using it. So no big deal for them. -
