I found two vacuum leaks that I fixed with 4" of vinyl tubing. Big performance gain with this find. The first was the line attached to the vacuum pump. Heat and oil deteriorated it and it was collapsing under vacuum. This line is paired with another line going to the turbo diaphram actuator. The end of this other line was deteriorated and swollen to twice its normal ID.
    What a difference :-D

Great that they're fixed! Are you using vinyl tubing (as in "vinyl"), or some other clear polymer or vacuum hose? If it's vinyl It may deteriorate quickly in the hot engine bay, so you may want to consider something with more backbone. Also, don't do what I did and get Pep Boys/AutoZone/cheapie "silicone" tubing as it, too, collapses under vacuum! Use "real" vacuum line. Ugly, but trusty.

I'm an R53 guy, and I know there are some well-known "rub points" in our engine bay that wear through vacuum hoses, I suppose that's the case in the 56 too, so check/protect there.

    Glad she's fixed!

    Vinyl is not finyl?

I know that what I put in is not the best, so I'm looking for better material.

NAPA sells some pretty good stuff by the foot.... Made for vacuum lines....

Resists everything your engine compartment can throw at it..... within reason....

LOL, that's great! I've actually found that the ugly black rubber "vacuum hose" is, umm, the best "vacuum hose". There's probably a lot of other stuff that's marketed that way, but that's what's worked for me...

Glad you found where to put it, though, and you know that addresses the issues!
