I want to frame that nifty poster MINI supplied to all of us the registered. Ya know, the one with our name and hometown on it... Anyway, I know nothing about how to go about this. When family sends me pictures they know I have no idea what I am doing so they supply the pictures already framed. I live in the arts district where there are lot of galleries. I guess I could take it to a gallery, hand over obscene amounts of money and get it done but I know there has to be a better way. Can someone educate me please? Thanks
JoAnn Fabrics and/or Hobby Lobby have inexpensive frames that look nice. If it isn't a standard size you can get a custom frame at both places too for a lot cheaper than in the short north!! Just remembering the size it will probably fit in a 16x20 frame, you could get a float frame (one with glass on both sides) and then you wouldn't have to worry about framing the poster within the picture frame. At least you don't have 3 to frame like we do! Hope this helps!
A few problems with that. 1. It puts holes in the poster. 2. The walls in this place are plaster over lathe, no holes allowed cause big chunks fall out.
We have stores called Michael's here that have the fancy surrender all your money frame, build your own and tons of grab and go frames. Something for everyone. I've always got the g&g frames got my garage artwork.
Sneak it or to Curves house, slip in in the stack and maybe it will get framed with the other three. Jim
But it is hanging in a "free range" garage. That is the look I was going for. Even hung my license plate frame on top of a map of Graham County Jim
I took mine to Hobby Lobby. They will do it for you. Sale going on right now... It cost me $31 to dry mount on black mat, and they framed for me while I waited. Their posters are an off size, so you will need to go with an 18" x 24" frame and then have mat cut to fit, then have it dry mounted. Worked on both the Dragon poster and the MINI v Porsche posters. Came out great!
Yep... Michaels, Hobby Lobby and other arts-n-crafty type stores will have framing departments where you can either find a pre-made frame, buy a kit by selecting the proper length side rails, top rails and corners to make your own or just hand it over to the folks back there and they will make one for you on the spot or over the next day or two. My local place will run a 1/2 off sale a few times a year if you don't mind waiting a bit to save a few bucks. You can also go to a framing store and have it done that way... you get a much larger selection of frames + matting + mounting + glass, but you are gonna pay for it. I'd expect well over $100 for a poster-sized framing job at a 'framing store'.
Are they the same size as the MINI vs. Porsche posters? I thought they might be. I got a cheap frame from Walmart that fit the MvsP posters nicely, and was hoping to do the same for these.
Nathan, Go to a craft store by you, and buy a frame. The only thing I've paid to be professionally framed are my degrees... I figure a few more hundred dollars on the thousands I paid to get them didn't really matter  I haven't measured it, but if it's a standard size, you will have a lot of frames to choose from.
Did any one else click in thinking d@mn, he got his panoramic already?!? I like the idea of a float frame, that will look nice. If you want to go the matting route, most craft stores that will frame stuff for you will also sell you the matting so you can cut your own. A sharp exacto will cut through the matting. It's a pretty simple task IMO.
I thought the same thing..... I have craft stores that have "pre-cut" matte boards so no cutting off your fingers
