    Hi All,

I've had my R56S since April and I am enjoying the heck out of it!

I just had my first scheduled official oil change. I paid for one at 5k and my light went on at 9500 miles so I took it in for it's second change. Just being curious I checked the scheduled maintenance menu and noticed that Front Brakes where now at the top of the list. The systems is predicting that I will need to replace my fronts in 4100 miles. That would be less than 15k on the front pads. The rears have 10k left.

Is <15k on the fronts normal?

I will admit that am driving in a much more spirited fashion these days. Might that explain it?

    Motr on,
    John

Life of brake pads is so hard to predict. Driving style & types of roads play a big role in how they last. Some folks can get 80,000 miles out of a set & others can use them in 10,000 miles.

Ditto, the only thing you can do is just keep checking them, when they need it, they need it.

I didn't have to change mine until almost 90k, had to change rotors too but the pads had just evened out with the wear indicator groove.

There was a programming error, cars are coming in for service at 10k-20k saying it needs brakes....Most do NOT need brakes they just need a reprogram , takes a few hours for them to do the re-program....Not saying this is the case with your MINI, just what I have seen coming in to the Service dept as of late.

OEM pads last longer than EBC's. :p

But every pads life depends on how each driver uses the brakes. The more you use them the faster they wear out just like your gas tank.

Thanks for the input everyone. Seeing as my beastie is a 2013 I'm wondering if it is the programming issue.

If not then my decision to buy the extended maintenance will pay off in spades! :)
