I must respectively disagree with those who object to front license tags. I remember police in the city where I was transportation director telling me how important vehicle ID is from front and rear since the tag is the only positive means for distinguishing vehicles. The arguments against appear convoluted to me. (MINIs are the only vehicles distinguishable from all others!)

Signed. I don't run a front plate (well, I DO... a Euro-style unit printed to match my Ohio plate) and I almost NEVER get hassled, but I won't park downtown in any metered spot, since any time I do, I always get a ticket. Makes me want to not shop or do anything downtown, since it's the METER MAIDS who have the issue, not the cops.

I hardly ran a front tag up there (except with the no holes LPB since I thought it was pretty cool). Luckily down here, even with OH plates, they don't know the difference since SC is a one-plate-state!

Signed the petition (I think again) anyway.

This bill or whatever it is, has been just sitting on the desk for years now... itll probably never get through.

    NEXT opinion....

I have friends & family in law enforcement & can understand why they would like us to remain a 2 plate state. The fact that the law in Ohio says 2 plates doesn't stop folks from running one. No big deal, run 2 or 1. Doesn't bother me to run a front plate. If the law gets changed I'll probably still run a front plate that says Old Fart. :D

    Just my .02....

Your cops did not make the law, your lawmakers did. Cops just get to enforce it & to be honest most cops have more important things to do than write front plate tickets. Best start a petition & get that law fixed so your MINI can once again be beautiful.

Back on topic: Pounding sand

It is the cops who whine that they want front plates every time it comes up in our legislature. Phooey, they are only tax men anyway! (traffic fines). :incazzato::lol:

"Now I don't care who you are, that there is funny" - Larry the cable guy.

I don't mind having a front plate. I mean it doesn't take away from the beauty of a Chevy cobalt. :)

But on some cars, and I am not saying MINI per se, it really makes it look crappy.

As far as law enforcement. If you have seen those goofy looking rectangle boxes mounted on angle on the trunk of a cruiser, they are a high tech camera able to capture a license coming at acruiser at highway speed and notify the officer if it is wanted within seconds. Insurance companies are big supporters of these. It helps them recover stolen cars.

Signed it. I already make mine smaller and angle it. Which is all legal.

^ I can understand not wanting to run a front plate on Rallyfart. No where to put one. Well maybe a couple of big sheet metal screws into the intercooler would do it. :ihih:
