I have a really weird problem dealing with my gas cap coming off when driving. Happened twice on my way home from the dragon. I would find the cap outside the closed gas cap door...as if I just closed the door w/o putting the cap on. I know I put the cap on tight when gassing up. I'm at a loss and no amount of searching turns up anything like this problem. Anyone have any ideas at all?

Once after having my emissions checked the guy that checked the cap broke it, or so I thought. Those little metal tabs are stationary but the plastic part around them can move. Try to twist it left, I believe, and make sure it's seated all the way to that side then screw it back on and go on a test run.

I have seen this a few times with the MINIs and BMW's. We just replace the cap and have no issues after that.

You're not nuts, Teddy. Gas caps wear out, but we never seem to think about that when we have other mods to fry first..
