Nathan: When I sign in, I get the re-direct page, and then it bounces me back to the original page, un-signed in, with that annoying sign up message chasing me around. This happens sporatically. I Think your back end sees me as signed up, but my end doesn't show it, and features for signed-in members are not available. If I open enough pages, eventually, the site shows me as signed in. Have at it, code puncher...
I'm having a somewhat similar issue, and have been in contact with the PTB - they're researching it...... In my case, the site says I'm not logged in, but if I click on Forums, it says "Welcome, Minidave" or somesuch, and I'm in.....
Make sure you guys use http://www.motoringalliance.com and NOT http://motoringalliance.com. The WWW make a difference for some reason.
There is a 301 - redirect for the non www side but I have seen this issue with a few people. I have been researching this and am coming up with a lot of nothing. I do have a ticket in with vBSolutions but they are an IB company...
Any possible Browser dependencies? Could that be a factor? I like Google Chrome, Firefox is usually a safe bet as well. Nathan, you can probably inform of those browsers to stay away from, regardless of whether or not it is related to this issue specifically.
For you geeky types... A person that has a little more insight on the issue said to inspect the httpd.conf file for issues. Being on a shared server the Host company said no. The upcoming move over the weekend of the 23rd to a dedicated server will allow for root access. Oh goody, even more ways I can break stuff!...anyway, once migrated we'll revisit this issue. I know goaljnky will remind me, he's a sufferer too.
Well, it's little more than an inconvenience for me, once I get into the forums I'm shown as logged in, so it's simply one more click, and that's not too obtrusive...
From initial reports this issue has been fixed by the move. For you geeks that want to know what caused it the best I can tell is there was some version issues with Ajax and PHP on the old server.
