Sorry it's taken me so long to get back here.. I have something I feel I must share with the community here...

On June 2, 2011 I lost my 2006 Astro Black MINI Cooper to a rear-impact collision. I was stopped at a red light, and struck by an older model Toyota Tacoma PreRunner. My MINI was a total loss, but I walked away unscathed. The MINI did her job protecting me and my fiance, George from physical injury.

The rear bumper was crushed, hatch destroyed... When I opened her up you could see the rear body panel had wrinkled, the floor panels had popped up

The saddest day came when I drove back out to the body shop, and collected the last of my personal affects from within the glove box, pockets, and cup holders... I looked at the stripped-down back end, saw the extent of the damage and knew it was over. I remember the first day I sat in that MINI, and I'll never forget the last.

RIP my 2006 MINI Cooper, 104K miles...

So sorry about your loss, but glad you were all ok! So does this mean there's a new MINI in your near future? Or at least a lonesome MINI on a lot somewhere waiting for you to adopt it?

We love our MINIs because they are so much more than just a car and they bring us so much joy and comfort. I truly know how much your MINI meant to you as I know what mine means to me. MINImowse and I are thinking of you and sending you caring thoughts. We are glad to hear that you have found a new MINI, not to replace your R50, but to help you through this difficult time. The sheet metal may be taken away from us but not the wonderful memories.

I'm so sorry to hear about your R50 :frown5:
    I'm glad of 3 things:

    1. that you and the fiancé were ok,
    2. that you are back, safe and sound in a MINI, and
    3. that people here feel the same way about their cars

    Motor on!
