We should say a prayer to God thanking him for our Constitution and begging him to help keep it intact and in force. Our nation was founded upon the principles of individual liberty and self determination, and it seems to me that everything we can be proud of as a nation reflect those very principles.
We can only pay that we will one day get a government that follows it instead of wanting to burn it. That just not the dems but the republicans too. Sorry Nathan, I couldn't help myself.
I've covered this MANY times in the past but will do so again. Lets look at the First Amendment text for minute please. Note the very first word, Congress. Motoring Alliance is NOT Congress. Free speech protection, however, does not extend to private homes or businesses. You may have the right to say what you like in a public forum, but you don’t have the right to enter a private home or business and do that. In such situations your right to free speech is subject to the discretion of the owner of that private forum. Jeff, as an example. You can stand outside of a business all day with a placard saying how shoddy that business is, however, once you step inside that business the owner may within his/her rights, show you the door. This issue comes up now and then on M/A. Please keep in mind that Motoring Alliance is a privately owned entity. If said owner (me) woke up one morning with a wild hair up my butt and thought that banning all people named Jeff was what the site needed then by all rights as the owner of a privately owned entity said owner could do so. Would it be smart to do, hell no, but it can be done with zero recourse but the harmed Jeff's. I'm a big fan of the US Constitution, I hate to see individual rights being eroded the way that have for the past umpteen years over various administrations. I'd be happy to sit down with you Jeff, on porch at Fontana, or over a donut and coffee at Tim's and discuss this all.
Maybe Jeff should just fade away and then EVERYONE will be happy, happy, happy. I read everyone's comments and I add one here and there, but now I am singled out as an example. I don't cause problems, and perhaps I am a bit sharp-witted at times. Just let me know if I'm unwanted here, and I'll gather my friends' email addys and leave.
Jeff my friend, me thinks you are over reacting to this just a wee bit. Nathan please change the name in your example to Chuck, thus restoring interweb harmony.
No worries Jeff. I didn't take it as Nathan lambasting you. Just using you as an example. However, I can also see from your perspective how you could feel the way you do. Heck you're my cigar buddy. I want you around.
No overreacting here. Now that my Drs. have all given me a clean bill of health, I guess I'm feeling feisty. Others can make comments here with no repercussions. I guess I'm in a "league of my own", though.
Feeling 'feisty' is a good sign. Now if Nathan had used 'Don' then we could have had another discussion with the same result. Just not an issue, but the arguments Nathan used are sound! IMO! Don
Jeff, rest assured I'm not picking on you, just used a name like yours as an example. Shall I change it to Geoff?
Actually Nathan you did respond to his free speech post, that said you have your point, this forum is not a Democracy that is subject to the first amendment, as neither is my business, or my home, or anyone else's here ... Use Mark instead of Jeff if that will bring harmony, and let's all try and be proud of and defend the Constitution of this the United States of America.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK! GEOFF??? Hell NO...THAT sounds wayyyyyyy too much like "G-OFF" [as in Goof Off]!
