I have never understood why anyone would paint a CF part........isn't part of buying a CF part the looks?
it weighs well less than the metal stock one, so no... its for weight. And you paint it so it looks good lol
Also...... Clear coats are not the best UV blockers as compared to a solid pigmented coating like an opaque paint. So long term, expect some detrimental effects to occur (brittleness / stress cracking) of the non painted CF part as compared to the solid painted CF part..
Also, certain colored cars don't look so good with a full CF hood. While others look great. And I don't want to look like every one else.. lol
Good plan. My youngest son had a "Honda" with a CF hood, it pretty much self-destructed due to UV exposure in CO. He keeps eying my 07, but that is not going to happen. :frown5: :incazzato:
I do find that the ability to balances one's car parts on one's head is essential  Can't wait to see what comes next!
Congrats on the hood mel, post up pics when shes all painted up. post up if you run into any speed bumps on the install, ive done one or two of those
Now that is a sexy bonnet! It looks like you left accent sections of the CF, or are those something else? Yes please, more pictures, even with bug guts!
Cool... Was wondering if you were gonna reverse some stripes. I like the stealth aspect of that too... Nothing like surprising the crap out of a Mercedes or Mustang off a line somewhere. Nice job. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
LOL. I've always thought an unpainted carbon fiber hood just looked like the kid worked at Burger King and couldn't afford to finish the mods after maxing out the first Capitol One card he got. It's usually accompanied by a white gelcoat front bumper, gray primer rear bumper, mismatched wheels and peeling tint.
